Sulekha Bloggers and the Indian society at large is aware of the sad tale of Gitanjali Nagpal, a one time ramp rage model who fell into bad times and had to eke out a living by doing odd jobs and even granting occasional favors to flesh predators in the streets of Delhi.

Fortunately she is now well and safe in a home for women under the care of professionals. Gitanjali has even been able to reunite with her mother.

Now, news has come out that Madhur Bhandarkar is going to make a film on her story in which Kangana will play the role of Gitanjali Nagpal.

I do not know whether Mr Bhandarkar has got permission from the lady and her family, because news reports are silent about this. Even if Mr Bhandarkar has been given permission I think it is very selfish of him to put the poor lady's life in full glare of the masses so early after her rehabilitation. There are many aspects to the story that still need to be sorted out, like Gitanjali has yet to be reunited with her son and husband. If there is a dispute between her and the husband then the matter will be decided by the courts.

I do not know what makes these film fellows to make haste when it comes to exploiting someone's private difficulties.

Secondly, when the film does get the nod after the issues are fully resolved I think it would be fitter to have Gitanjali herself play her part. This will be a source of immense joy and sense of accomplishment to her and satisfy her ambition to stand before the arc lights once again.

Please hold on, Mr Bhandarkar, give the lady some time to sort out her problems and put together her shattered life!

Good Luck, Gitanjali.
